I want to say it was… …2007?… when my brother came to visit me in Virginia Beach for Independence Day. We drove to Washington, DC for the fireworks on the National Mall.
An overwhelmingly disappointing experience in my opinion as they were super short and completely underwhelming.
Of the sites we saw and places we visited that day was the National Archives. Inside the archives was an exhibit of old newspaper political cartoons, and by old I mean at least a century.
When someone thinks back 100 years they tend to think of simpler times. Events, effects and their causes, were much more straightforward.
Yeah, not so much.
The cartoons could have been made for our day of 2007 and still would have been relevant.
I tell that little piece of history to say this, I really do believe folks who look back on the old days with fondness are only remembering the good things, not the hardships that went along with them, and not the battles it took to maintain liberty and freedom. Don’t believe me? Try these on for size.
The “Greatest Generation” may have won WWII, but they also started and never finished Korea, got involved in Vietnam and lost that 30 years later, started the Cold War and caused it to continue with “Baby Boom” Clinton “losing” a classified laptop to Chinese espionage and “Gen X” Obama “losing” a drone to Iran along with dropping a pallet of US dollars on a tarmac in Tehran. The 50s may have looked picture perfect but kids grew up to hate their parents, women embraced child murder and sexual promiscuity, illegal and illicit drugs began to take the youth by storm, and homosexuality was embraced. That only brings us to the 1980s.
The more I hear about what President Reagan compromised on to advance his agenda the more I realize the evil that has been our nation’s political class since…well, maybe since the nation’s inception. Reagan was the one who granted the first amnesty. Reagan may have been the one to end the 1970s stagflation but remember why it was there in the first place. The Gold Standard by which US Currency had been backed was completely abandoned under Nixon. Carter may have done almost everything wrong, but hiding the devaluation of US Currency was not one of them. Stagflation was the free market telling consumers how much it cost to do financial business. Reagan effectively hid stagflation, trading it for permanent inflation (that number the Fed is always trying achieve), hiding it in plain sight behind “monetary policy”.
Bush started the Gulf War and lost, and signed one of the largest tax increases in history.
Clinton busied himself with interns and participated in the genocide in the Balkans.
Bush II barely won his bid, refused to win the easiest war we could have ever fought, expanded citizen surveillance beyond anything the common citizen can imagine to this day and took over the financial system in 2008.
Obama took over health care by equating it with insurance and weaponized the DOJ against the domestic citizenry.
All of that is just what we know. What happened behind the scenes cannot be hidden anymore. The Deep State is very, very real. Into that walks Trump who then usurps American freedom, shuts the country down, spends us into oblivion, and advocates for medical treatment no one in their right mind would ever take unless scared out of their gourd.
Now we come to the article linked above and I ask the question, when will enough be enough? Am I the only one who is abandoning my post where I’ve been working to keep the country afloat? Is there anyone else walking away? Or have the tentacles of government expanded so far as to perfectly separate the population, divide and conquer its own citizenry?
How does this end? Will enough patriots just get out of the way of the falling building? Will enough patriots stop plugging the holes of the sinking ship? Are there enough patriots not saddled with debt to do it willingly, or those who are willing to pay the price?
