Four years ago to the date I was waking up somewhere outside Orlando. YB and I had taken the kids on a timeshare weekend trial weekend which we treated as a vacation. We didn’t buy into the timeshare and never had any intention on doing so. It’s hard to pass up three days and two nights (or four days and three nights) for four people at a price of $299. It was nice to be able to get away for a couple days. Yesterday, four years ago, would have been the day we traveled down. I don’t remember if I planned it that way when I bought the package in October, but I do remember being glad that we were leaving the morning of President Trump’s Inauguration.
Every President who is not Liberal seems to do at least one stupid thing during their presidency, something which marks them and causes them to be voted against the next time around. I won’t spend too much time on this line of thought. With Bush 41 it was a massive tax hike. Somehow Bush 43 was elected to a second term but with him it was the allowed power grab of the Three Letter Agencies and the foundation of the Political Police State in his first term, and his handling of the ’08 Financial Crisis in his second. For Trump, it was Covid. I will never believe for a second that Trump actually lost his reelection. I do believe it was stolen. But Trump’s handling of Covid was the only mistake made in his presidency, and the cover for what the Liberals did before, during, and after the election.
In 2016 our family was still living in DC. Gman was in Kindergarten. YB had put Zbug in K-3. We loved their private school and so did the kids. We were socking as much money away for a house as we possibly could and were still intent on staying in the DC area. 2017 remained much the same except the kids moved up a grade. Gman to 1st and Zbug to K-4. In 2018 we began house hunting in the DC area. The realization of what we would be able to afford in the area we needed it to be quickly set in. The kids school was not located in a very convenient area. Houses were found in one of the nearby affluent towns leaving us with no other option but one of the many row-house condos found in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. We pulled the plug.
I was never really sold on DC. Don’t get me wrong, I would have stayed had we found something that worked. But once we started looking in DC and it became apparent that we weren’t finding anything I started exploring options in a list of locales I’d started amassing in my travels for golf. We ended up landing on Ohio, closer to my brother, very close to one of my aunts and uncles who hadn’t been near family in years. We could build a new house in a neighborhood with a good school district. The kids could play outside unsupervised with other neighborhood kids. It is as close to the childhood I had growing up as is humanly possible. It’s the childhood I asked the Lord to be able to give them.
2019 was a year unlike any I’d ever known. We were busy with work. YB had started traveling to present almost as soon as we moved to Ohio in 2018 and that continued in 2019. Her opportunities began expanding. I picked up a golf circuit with a second client which made for an unbelievably busy summer after an unbelievably busy winter when the failed AAF debuted. YB and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary in Crete. We were very much looking forward to 2020 as we felt we were going to be able to get in a groove with work, not having to take everything from everyone.
At the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020 there began to be rumblings of trouble. A virus which was spreading in China. I don’t think it necessarily scared many people. We’d heard about Asian flus for quite some time. They seemed to stay in Asia. This one was different. My work crews began talking about what would happen if they caught it, if we caught it. It seemed like people were dying, lots of people. Then the virus started jumping countries. January passed. February was spent with foreboding. In March I boarded a flight bound for New York City. It was Tournament time. At wheels down I brought my phone back from airplane mode and received an email which arrived five minutes after I went wheels up at my origin. The email told me to not get on the airplane. I turned around and went home. The NBA was the first to fall. The tournament was next. NHL after that, the same day as the tournament. Golf followed that same weekend I believe. And MLB which was just started spring training as well. The next time I worked was June and save for one two-week break and two one-week breaks I haven’t stopped.
2020 was a year marked by fear, anger and division. A kind of fear and division that can only be brought on by an intentional third party. The initial scare of Covid was one thing, but we’re a year into this and folks are still doing things due to the fear of Covid they wouldn’t normally otherwise do. If one does not subscribe to the fear another, the latter becomes not just angry, but violent with the former. Businesses do not allow employees to work, or customers to enter their establishment. Those who do not subscribe to the fear are ostracized in every sense of the word. And these problems are just with the aspect of the virus. Racial tension fueled by political motivation was even greater and supported by political agendas bent on retaining and expanding their hold on power.
The massive problems of 2020 have now been carried over into 2021. Humanity is a true cess pool of cancerous fear, anger and division. The world groans for the sons of God to be revealed. I groan for the Lord to have mercy on me, my family, my neighborhood, my locality, my state, my nation, the world. I pray, dear Lord, that 2021 would be a year of breakthrough. That the fear of death would be overcome. That anger would melt in the light of Truth. That divisions would cease because Your light would shine. I pray, Lord, that darkness would fall, never to rise again, and those who enjoy and take pleasure in the darkness of their deeds and thoughts, those who enjoy subjecting their fellow man to darkness, would go with darkness. Let the light come, o Lord. Let Your Word be proved true. Let it not fall to the ground. Let it not return void. Let us walk in the light, as You are in the light. Let us have fellowship with You and with one another. Come, Lord Jesus, come.
